Barbados
Barbados can lay claim to the third oldest representative assembly in the Western Hemisphere (only Bermuda's and Virginia's are older). While many islands in the Caribbean retain some affinity for Great Britain, Barbados seems to completely immerse itself in British customs and culture as evidenced by political, religious, and recreational proclivities still found on Barbados. Barbados also has a dynamic and diversified economy that has shed reliance on sugar and now look towards manufacturing, tourism, and technological industries as sources of revenue. Economic and political success has instilled a desire to take the lead in Caribbean politics.
